Snap shots of the attack on September 11, 2001
On September 11, 2001, the United States witnessed its first modern day terrorist attack. On that day, several men from a terrorist group, Al-Qaeda, boarded suicidal planes that would eventually be crash into several of U.S. strongholds. The most renown of these attacks was the one that occurred in New York that resulted in the collapse of the Twin Towers and the death of several citizens.
The leader of these attacks were presumably Osama Bin Laden. The organization launched the attacks primarily because of the U.S. support for Israel and its continual military involvement in the Middle East. 19 humans with no souls smuggled knifes and other weapons onto a plane, and soon after takeoff, they commenced their plan. The transcontinental plans soon became guided missiles. This event has come to define the Bush Administration. In New York, more than 300 brave firefighters were lost. Americans will never truly forget the tragic events that happened on the 11 day of September.

The events of 9-11 are so important to U.S. history because it was the first time that any terrorist attacks killed more than 2,000 Americans. After this event airport security and any type of security became more rigorous. Because of this event, there was dramatic increase in the appreciation for the service of policemen and firefighters. In addition, another effect was the increase in power of the presidency and the federal government.
