Between 1807-1911, there was a mass migration of immigrants caused by the California Gold Rush of 1849. During this time, there were laws set up to prevent immigrants from entering the U.S.A., for the endanger the job opportunities of the native born Americans. Another major reform was the Emancipation of Proclamation, which freed all the rebellious slaves in the south.
