The French and Indian war lasted from 1756-1763. This war was fought by the colonist and their mother land, England, against the Native Americans and the French. Conflict was always on the rise between the French and the English. As the French expanded their overseas colonies into the Ohio Valley, distress heightened between the two nations. This was most evident in the French's encroachment into the borders of Virginia.
During this war, George Washington received much acclaim alongside renown general Edward Braddock. Despite the British's effort, the French clearly had the upper hand. With the help of the Indians' land knowledge, the French was able to attack in ways previously consider unconventional. Meanwhile, the British stayed to their conventional straight line formation. With lacking interest at home, the British were certain that this was one war they were going to lose. However, this view soon turn when William Pitt rose to power and borrow mass amounts of money and materials from other empires. With better materials and well train troops, the British began their streak of victory. The British soon went on to win the war and eventually took over the French's territory in North America. The Treaty of Paris was signed in conclusion in 1763.

The Importance of the French and Indian War

The French and Indian War was a very pivotal point in the American history. With this war, the colonies saw how vulnerable their motherland was. It let them know that there was a way to defeat the English. Also, the debt that was racked up due to William Pitt's lavish borrowings caused high taxes to be implemented on the colonists. As a result the slogan "No Taxation without Representation" came to be and this distrust between the two nations deepened and would eventually lead to American Revolution and our liberty.
